How Childhood Trauma Shapes Who You Become

Very often, what we think of as our personality is actually a collection of protective responses formed in childhood. Here's how to clear them.

How Childhood Trauma Shapes Who You Become

A lot of people think childhood trauma only means something extreme happened.

But trauma is not just about what happened.

It's about what your subconscious mind and nervous system learned from what happened.

If, as a child, you felt rejected, criticised, ignored, controlled, unsafe, unsupported, unseen, or emotionally alone, your mind may have formed identities, beliefs and patterns around that experience.

For example, you may have learned to please people, or avoid conflict, or shut down emotionally, or work hard to prove your worth, or feel responsible for other people's feelings, or expect rejection before it even happens.

These patterns often become so normal that we don't see them as trauma.

We just call them "my personality."

But very often, what we think of as our personality is actually a collection of protective responses formed in childhood.

The problem is that these responses may have helped you survive emotionally as a child, but they can keep creating problems in adulthood.

They can affect your relationships, confidence, self-worth, money, visibility, boundaries, emotional regulation, and ability to feel safe being yourself.

So how do you identify the childhood trauma that's still affecting you?

With Mind Shifting it's very simple…

Close your eyes and give yourself this instruction:

"Recall an emotional upset with one or both parents"

Then just notice the first thing that comes up.

Whatever comes up first is the memory your mind is presenting as relevant.

Now simply use the Trauma Shifting method to clear that trauma, and clear any related problems that come up through the digging deeper process using any of the four methods in the system for clearing problems.

Once done, simply return to the same instruction.

Because you cleared the first memory, a new traumatic memory will come up.

If any memory comes up that is not to do with your parents, clear that too, as it is still relevant.

Keep following this process until giving yourself the instruction no longer brings up any traumatic memory.

This simple process is how you clear the deeper childhood experiences that shaped your identity, emotional patterns, and automatic responses.

Because when you use the Trauma Shifting method you are clearing the identities you became stuck in during each traumatic event, which are the root cause of the unconscious patterns you still experience now.

By clearing these identities at the root, you are no longer trying to manage the symptoms.

You are coming back to who you were before your identity was shaped by trauma.
